Introduction to Hotglue
During freshers week, I had received my timetable for workshops that I had to attend during that week and one of the workshops was a taster session for one of the units that I was going to study when the University was open to all students. This unit was 'Web design studio' and once the lecturer introduced himself, he gave us a brief of the unit and what work we were going to start. When I started university after freshers week, I was given a task to register on hotglue.me, which is a Content Manipulation System that allows the construction of websites directly in a web browser. Hotglue is also a visual tool for making web pages, by simply manipulating pictures, text and video directly in a browser window. Editing a page looks exactly the same as viewing it, the only difference is that you can move things around.
Once I registered on hotglue.me, I was given the task of exploring hotglue and getting to know more about its features. This was helpful because I added text boxes, videos and music into a website which enhanced my knowledge of some of the features hotglue offers.
The image on the right is the main hotglue.me website which I registered myself into.
Hotglue also offers a different approach to web site making. Instead of being restricted by newspapers like column layout the system allows free hand 'drawing' and composition of the elements of a web page. Hotglue have created a simple exciting tool for artists, creators, scientists and anyone seeking out for the freedom of artistic expression and experimentation by using a web-browser.
